Giving at MABC

At MABC, we believe that the giving of our offerings to the Lord and gospel ministry is both wise and a part of worship. Jesus told us in the Sermon on the Mount, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matt 6:19-21).

Therefore, we believe that the giving of any of our resources to the Lord is a wise investment in heavenly priorities. Moreover, we believe that giving to the Lord is an act of worship. The sovereign God of the Bible owns all things (Haggai 2:8), and He gives to us all that we have (James 1:17; 1 Cor 4:17) and over which we are to be good stewards. He has given believers in Jesus Christ the privilege of participating in the ministry of reconciliation (the gospel, 2 Cor 5:17-19) which involves the use of all types of resources, including our offerings.

For that reason, it is our custom to receive an offering at every Sunday morning worship service as a part of the worship. We do not ask for guests to give, but rather to receive from the preaching, teaching and singing of God’s Word. However, we do encourage our MABC members and regular attenders to give generously and proportionately as cheerful givers to the Lord (2 Cor 9:6-7). In our modern age, we also offer an online giving opportunity to make it easier for those who would choose to give in this manner.

Lastly, as a church, we strive to be diligent and transparent with the use of the offerings that are given so that we might be pleasing to the Lord with His resources. We do this through an annual budgetary process and regular informative meetings designed to demonstrate a godly and biblical use of God’s funds.
